SAG Foundation hosts Actors Center Opening Cocktail Reception, dedicates Aaron Spelling Place

November 20, 2008

On Thursday, July 24, 2008 the Screen Actors Guild Foundation held a cocktail reception to proudly unveil the brand new Actors Center, a long-awaited event to which SAG President Alan Rosenberg and SAG Foundation board members including JoBeth Williams, Elliott Gould, Pamela Reed, Mitchell Ryan and several others came to celebrate a project two and a half years in the making. Built to help actors improve in all their professional endeavors, the Actors Center features a state-of-the-art screening room, lounge, resource library, classroom, and computer lab, all geared to the actors’ craft and industry.

Besides marking the completion of the Actors Center, the cocktail reception also served as a dedication ceremony for “Aaron Spelling Place,” the Center’s computer lab and reception area. Performers from some of Aaron Spelling’s most memorable shows attended, including Linda Gray, Joan Van Ark, Ruta Lee and Peter Mark Richman. Keith Carradine, Marg Helgenberger and Ed Asner were also in attendance to show their support for the opening of the Actors Center. With over 150 guests there to celebrate, Candy Spelling joined SAG Foundation President JoBeth Williams in dedicating the computer center in honor of her late husband, an entertainment legend known for launching countless careers as well as hit television series.

The completion of the Actors Center is a huge milestone for the SAG Foundation, giving us a space where our mission to assist, educate, and inspire actors can be fully realized. Look for more updates on the Actors Center as we prepare to make it available for actors everywhere.
