“You never stop learning your craft. That’s the key to success within yourself as an actor.”

– Julianna Margulies at Conversations

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations program offers inspiring events with well-known actors who explore the process and profession of acting with an audience of fellow performers; reflect on personal experiences and artistic influences that informed and shaped their careers; discuss past and current projects; share valuable insights into the craft and industry; and preserve their creative legacies in the Actors Archive.

Presented in Los Angeles, New York and cities nationwide, we offer two types of Conversations: screenings of films and television shows followed by Q&As with casts and principals, and two-hour career retrospectives with the leading, influential actors of our time. All Conversations are professionally moderated, recorded and available in our video gallery.

Recent Conversations include the casts of Birdman, The Theory of Everything, Boyhood, The Imitation Game, Selma, Scandal, Mad Men, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Orange is the New Black.

Over 300 Conversations career retrospectives with notable actors, including Michael Keaton, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Edward Norton, Alan Arkin, Eddie Redmayne, Diahann Carroll, Matt Damon, Bruce Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kirk Douglas, Jane Russell, Robert Duvall, Henry Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Al Pacino, Ewan MacGregor, Shirley MacLaine, Matthew McConaughey and Forest Whitaker, live in our permanent Actors Archive and many are available for online viewing.

In New York, we host a special Conversations series in partnership with to celebrate the vibrant theater community in the city and feature actors with careers on both stage and screen including Ellen Burstyn, David Hyde Pierce, Judy Greer, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jim Parsons and Keith Carradine.

The Conversations series is free for union performers and made possible through gifts, grants and sponsorships. The Foundation never draws on SAG-AFTRA dues or initiation fees.
