BookPALS logo resizedCalling upon the artistic community to join the cause of children’s literacy, the Foundation’s BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) program isa national effort which brings over 2,000 volunteers to more than 100,000 children (preschool to 5th grade) weekly. Through BookPALS, actors enthusiastically share with their youthful audiences the love of the written word by reading out loud at public schools, hospitals, cultural institutions, on the phone and online.

BookPALS is thrilled to partner with Reading Tree, an innovative early literacy and book recycling program which provides free books to children around the world. Our welcome alliance has already made a tremendous difference for our Arizona BookPALS and the children they serve. By the end of the 2008-2009 school year, Reading Tree will have supplied at least 20,000 books for BookPALS schools and students in the Phoenix area. In light of such a promising beginning, the Foundation looks forward to further betterment in the lives and minds of children as Reading Tree’s work with BookPALS grows.
