February 18, 2011

NicoleKidman10The Screen Actors Guild Foundation, in partnership with the Actors Studio, proudly presents “A Special Conversation on Acting with Nicole Kidman”, an in-depth interview now available for viewing online in our Conversations Video Gallery.

The December event, which took place before an audience of actors at Los Angeles’ Pacific Design Center, welcomed the critically acclaimed and successful actor to the Foundation’s ongoing Conversations series for an in-depth question-and-answer session moderated by Timothy Blake. Beginning and ending with clips from Rabbit Hole (the first feature from the star’s Blossom Films production company), the evening explored the actor’s experience in preparing for, arriving at and delivering the caliber of performances that have consistently earned Ms. Kidman acclaim and applause (Rabbit Hole marks her third Academy Award Best Actress nomination, including her win in 2002 for The Hours). In sharing with the audience details of her artistic process, Ms. Kidman also related the advantages of working with such professionals as Rabbit Hole director John Cameron Mitchell and cast mates Aaron Eckhart, Dianne Wiest and Miles Teller.

Clips from such films as Dead Calm, To Die For, The Others, Moulin Rouge and The Hours added entertainment and enlightenment to the special Conversations event, which went on to illustrate Nicole Kidman’s disciplined career trajectory from Australian teen to international star whose ever-growing volume of work spans a startling range of genres, historical periods and emotional truths.

Since its first in-house event in 2001, the SAG Foundation’s Conversations program has consistently shared the wisdom and career knowledge of visiting high-profile professionals with audiences of professional actors.

Many Conversations are filmed to preserve historic and educational interest. Along with Conversations DVDs which are distributed to DVD libraries at colleges, universities and acting schools across the nation, archived Conversations, along with other filmed SAG Foundation events, are viewable online in the Video Gallery.
