CELEBRITY LIST GROWS FOR KRAFT NABISCO CHAMPIONSHIP

RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF. (March 14, 2011) – Eight new celebrities have signed on for the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship Celebrity Pro-Am, scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, and Wednesday, March 30, at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

KyleMacLachlanmediumAnthony Anderson (“Law & Order,” “The Shield,” “Bernie Mac Show”), Robert Hays (“Airplane!”), Chris Jacobs (“Entertainment Tonight” and former host of “Insider” and “Overhaulin’”), Kyle MacLachlan [pictured] (“Desperate Housewives,” “Sex in the City”), Craig T. Nelson (“Coach,” “The District”), Tommy Thayer, lead guitarist for Kiss, and comedians Tom Dreesen and Scott Record will join the largest list of celebrities to play at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in years.

Also scheduled to appear are Alice Cooper, Dennis Haysbert, Richard Karn, Richard Kind, Joe Pesci, Ron Perlman, Ray Romano, Peter Weller and more than 30 other entertainers from music, television and the movies.

The renewed focus on the LPGA major’s Celebrity Pro-Am – in conjunction with the tournament’s 40th anniversary – is the result of a new partnership between Kraft Nabisco and the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. The Kraft Nabisco Championship teamed up with the SAG Foundation late last year to support the organization’s Children’s Literacy Initiative and sponsor several BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) events in the desert.

This year’s Celebrity Pro-Am will be held on both the Arnold Palmer Course and the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club. The Pro-Am will be played over two days, with celebrities offered the choice of playing one day or two. Spectators are encouraged to bring their cameras during both days of the Pro-Am. No cameras are allowed once championship play begins on Thursday, March 31.

The 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship Tournament Week runs Monday, March 28, through Sunday, April 3, at Mission Hills Country Club.
