Joel McHale Returns to Host SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s 11th Annual L.A. Golf Classic on June 14, 2021

Charity tournament will benefit the Foundation’s Emergency Assistance and Catastrophic Health Fund for performing artists in need
LOS ANGELES (April 6, 2021) – Actor, comedian and TV host Joel McHale returns to host the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s 11th Annual L.A. Golf Classic on Monday, June 14 at an all-new location in Westlake Village, CA. The annual charity golf tournament benefits the Foundation’s Catastrophic Health Fund and Emergency Assistance Program for performing artists facing life-threatening illness and severe economic hardship.
Since 1985, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation has granted more than $27 million in financial and medical assistance to SAG-AFTRA artists and their dependents.
“It’s an honor to host the annual L.A. Golf Classic again for such an important cause despite my golf game being utterly embarrassing right now,” says actor Joel McHale. “I’m grateful to help my community in a small way and please don’t judge the event based on my putting, approach shots, or off-the-tee.”
This year’s celebrity tournament, to be held on a Ted Robinson-designed championship course, will follow all health department COVID-19 safety measures to ensure the health and well-being of all participants and guests in attendance.
“After postponing the Golf Classic last year, we’re excited to come back together to support our community in need,” says SAG-AFTRA Foundation First Vice President Pamela Reed. “This has been a challenging year for many performers and we hope to continue to make a positive impact through this annual fundraiser to maintain our vital safety net for artists during these difficult times.”
Previous participants have included Ron Perlman, Joe Pesci, Michael Peña, Patricia Heaton, Kathryn Newton, Chace Crawford, Donald Faison, Jonathan Banks, Haley Joel Osment, Dennis Haysbert, Andia Winslow, and Scott Bakula among others.
