For National Slime Day, Storyline Online® releases the super-squishy fun of ‘So Much Slime’ read by Academy Award nominee June Squibb
Press Release
New release sponsored by Elmer’s
To commemorate National Slime Day on Saturday, December 7, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s children’s literacy program Storyline Online® will release So Much Slime read by Academy Award nominee June Squibb (Nebraska, Thelma). This entertaining children’s book, written by Jason Lefebvre, illustrated by Zac Retz, published by Flashlight Press, tells the story of a young boy named Matty who loves making slime, and is delightfully told through Squibb’s expressive storytelling, humor and heart.
“Storyline Online has a way of bringing books to life in a way that makes children feel seen and inspired,” said June Squibb. “Reading So Much Slime was such a joy because it’s not just a fun, messy story – it’s a celebration of creativity, curiosity, and resilience. I can’t wait for kids to experience and enjoy it.”
Matty and his family make slime all the time. They know that it’s simple, stretchy, scientific, and super-squishy. But Matty’s slime demonstration at school turns into a disaster when he forgets an important ingredient – saline! Instead of squishy slime, he’s up to his elbows in an icky sticky swamp, and it’s spreading fast.
This new addition to the Storyline Online library is proudly sponsored by Elmer’s, whose products have long been a staple in classrooms and homes when it comes to creativity and learning, encouraging invention and hands-on gooey fun, as the main ingredient in slime.
Courtney B. Vance, SAG-AFTRA Foundation President and Chairman of the Board, shared his enthusiasm for the latest read-aloud: “The magic of Storyline Online lies in the way it combines the power of storytelling with the talents of incredible performers like June Squibb. So Much Slime is a story that shows children the importance of perseverance and ingenuity, and June’s performance makes every moment of it unforgettable. We’re also thrilled to have Elmer’s Glue as a sponsor, a partner that shares our commitment to fostering storytelling and advancing children’s literacy worldwide.”
So Much Slime, read by June Squibb, will be available on the Storyline Online website and YouTube Channel on Saturday, December 7 – National Slime Day – and includes a supplementary teacher’s guide that aligns with Common Core Standards. With over 900 million views, Storyline Online is an essential literacy resource for parents, teachers, and children worldwide, offering beloved stories read by the world’s best storytellers.
In addition to June Squibb, Storyline Online features 94 acclaimed actors reading beloved children’s books aloud, including Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Rami Malek, Chris Pine, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Yeoh and many more.
