Short Film Showcase

Celebrating outstanding short films by SAG-AFTRA members and films starring SAG-AFTRA members, inspiring performers to create their own content with practical resources, and guiding emerging filmmakers on collaborating with SAG-AFTRA artists.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation Short Film Showcase recognizes excellent short films and other shortform content made by and/or starring SAG-AFTRA members and inspires SAG-AFTRA members to create their own content, providing them with a toolkit and the requisite knowledge to get started as content creators.

The Showcase will include screenings in New York and Los Angeles of a curated selection of submitted short films and content, recognizing films made under a SAG-AFTRA contract, standout performances within short films, and films directed by SAG-AFTRA performers. The selected projects will be announced via our website and social media.

The deadline for submitting to the 2025 showcase is

January 23, 2025

Categories of Curation

The Foundation will curate a selection of submissions in the following categories:

Excellence in Performance

We recognize performances that are noteworthy by SAG-AFTRA performers in short films. The film must be made under a SAG-AFTRA contract and the category recognizes the performance within the film.

Excellence in Short Filmmaking

We recognize excellent films made by SAG-AFTRA members. The recognition is for the film, rather than the performers, although the production must have been union signatory and the SAG-AFTRA member must be listed as Director.

Excellence in Short Content Creation

We recognize content other than films – web series, social media content channels, short videos, and other digital media – showing off the creativity of SAG-AFTRA members. The content must be made by a SAG-AFTRA member under a SAG-AFTRA contract.

The Showcase is not an award or festival, but recognizes some of the great content being created by and starring SAG-AFTRA performers.

All submitted content must be made under a SAG-AFTRA contract, including the New Media or Micro-Budget agreements.
