Storyline Online® announces a fresh, new read-aloud featuring Oscar-winning actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph reading ‘Fresh Juice’
Press Release
The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s renowned children’s literacy program, Storyline Online®, is thrilled to announce the addition of Fresh Juice to its video library. Read by Oscar-winning actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph, this heartwarming tale, written and illustrated by Robert Liu-Trujillo, and published by Lee & Low Books, explores family, health, and community through a young boy’s adventure of making fresh juice for his dad.
Randolph, celebrated for her Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning performance last year, currently plays a recurring detective in Hulu’s popular series Only Murders in the Building. Randolph brings her storytelling talent, character versatility and passion for books to her read-aloud for Storyline Online.
“I love reading so much, and I especially love this book. One of the reasons why I love this book so much is because it talks about the importance of community. Together we can do so many things and it is great to rely on others for help when you need it,” says Da’Vine Joy Randolph. “Also, fruits and vegetables will keep the body strong. It’s actually healing. And if we eat fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet, we can live longer, run faster and be a better human being.”
In Fresh Juice, young Art joins his father in a vibrant journey through their community as they gather ingredients and learn about the joy of healthy, homemade juice. Randolph’s vibrant narration captures the richness of Art’s world, inspiring children to learn about nutrition and make healthy choices.
SAG-AFTRA Foundation President and Chairman of the Board Courtney B. Vance shared his enthusiasm about Randolph’s addition to the Storyline Online library: “We are honored to welcome Da’Vine Joy Randolph to our Storyline Online family of readers. She brings such depth and warmth to every role she plays. Her achievements and success as an actor speak to her incredible talent, and we are thrilled to share her inspiring and educational read-aloud of Fresh Juice with children and families around the world.”
