In-Person Labs

The Foundation also provides access to recording booths in our Voiceover Labs in Los Angeles, New York, and online, allowing members to book time for independent work or collaborative sessions with an engineer.

Both of our voiceover labs in Los Angeles and New York are equipped with main and solo booths. In a main booth, a member works with an audio engineer/booth director in the booth who provides coaching and direction. In a solo booth, a member works alone. A staff member will not be present for the session, but assistance is available for setup if necessary, and an instructional video is available for viewing.

Virtual Voiceover Lab

Members can book time in the Virtual VO Lab for technical help with their home setup or to record auditions/practice sessions with our audio engineers. A member is at home and connects virtually with one of the audio engineers/booth directors through Source-Connect (free version) or Source-Connect Standard (paid version). The audio engineer/booth director records, coaches, and directs the session.

Sessions are 50-minutes.

Virtual voiceover sessions require a Google Chrome browser, stable internet, and a quiet recording space. Source-Connect is not required but is a helpful tool. Book a virtual voiceover booth session below.

Voiceover Classes and Workshops

The Foundation offers specialized programs in every facet of voiceover work, enabling beginners to gain a grounding in the field and experienced practitioners to hone their craft while staying up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies.

Expert guest instructors conduct workshops, classes, and discussion panels on the business, the craft, and the evolving technical aspects of becoming a successful voiceover artist.

The Foundation’s staff of seasoned voiceover experts host regular virtual voiceover workout groups and meet-ups designed to help members explore their craft, receive feedback on their work, expand their business and technical know-how, and connect and network with other voiceover artists within the Foundation’s community.

In Memory of Don

The Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab located in the Foundation’s Los Angeles facilities is dedicated to the memory of the legendary voice actor Don LaFontaine. It fosters a vibrant community of voice actors who embody his generous spirit of mentorship and giving back.

This lab serves as a fitting tribute to this legendary artist, a man whom many of today’s top voiceover actors considered both a mentor and a friend.
