Cobra Assistance

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation COBRA Assistance program provides short-term financial grants to eligible SAG-AFTRA members and their families who have lost their earned eligibility through SAG-AFTRA yet wish to continue their health insurance coverage through the 18-month COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) Assistance program.

To be eligible as an individual, a SAG-AFTRA member must be an active member for five years and have a Federal IRS earnings income of $25,000 or less from the previous tax return.

To be eligible as a family, a SAG-AFTRA member must be active for five years and have a Federal IRS earnings income of $45,000 or less from the previous tax return.

Individuals or a family can only receive one COBRA Assistance grant in a lifetime.

Terminated, Suspended Payment or Fee-Paying-Non-Members are not eligible to apply.

The COBRA Assistance application process is completely confidential.

COBRA Assistance is made possible through gifts, grants and sponsorships. The Foundation never draws on SAG-AFTRA dues or initiation fees.
