Classes and Workshops

Currently, all of our workshops, screenings, Q&As, and classes are being offered virtually online as we follow health and safety guidelines due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Please check out our Program Calendar frequently as opportunities are added weekly. In-person functions have been suspended and all of our facilities are temporarily closed until further notice. Virtual Voiceover Lab Classes and Programs

Our VO Labs have gone virtual! Members can record voice tracks on demo reels, learn how to use audio recording software, and train with top voiceover instructors, all through the world wide web. In addition, we offer a virtual tech help desk where members can have their home audio questions answered by our audio engineers. Sign up today for one of our frequent Voiceover Lab Orientations.

Remotely Record with our Audio Engineers

VO Lab Eligibility Required

The Virtual Voiceover Lab is offering Online Booth Sessions (OBS). Members can reserve these remote recording sessions with our audio engineers from anywhere you call home. Record union voiceover auditions, practice reading copy, receive direction and feedback on your reads, and learn about remote recording. All you need is a computer, the Chrome browser and a stable Internet connection. Reserve a session and learn more.

How to Reserve and Cancel Online Booth Sessions

The Online Booth Sessions calendar is now open. Moving forward, please reserve your own Online Booth Sessions by following the steps below.

How to Reserve an Online Booth Session (OBS)

  • Sign in to your SAG-AFTRA Foundation user account and you arrive at your My Account – Dashboard on your computer, tablet or smartphone.

  • Locate the By Appointment Only icon/header.

  • Click the Select a Calendar.

  • Click the LA Voiceover Lab – Online Booth Sessions.

  • If no sessions are available, advance the calendar by clicking the Next Week button in the upper right corner of the calendar.
  • THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT – Click the Reserve button for the date and time you want, but you must reserve two (2) back-to-back 30-minute sessions (1-hour total) at the top of each hour between the calendar hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM (for example: 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM + 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM). After 1:00 PM, you must reserve two (2) back-to-back 30-minute sessions (1-hour total) beginning on the half-hour (for example: 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM + 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM; etc.).

  • Verify the information and click the appropriate button (Yes or No) to confirm.

  • You will receive a confirmation email with instructions about your upcoming OBS.


How to Cancel an Online Booth Session

Note: Cancellations must be made 24-hours before the start time of the session. If you are outside of that 24-hour window, contact us at

  • Repeat the steps above and click Cancel, which will appear in place of Reserve.


  • From your  My Account – Dashboard click My Upcoming Programs, locate your reserved sessions and click Cancel followed by Yes to confirm the cancellation. You must cancel each of your two (2) back-to-back 30-minute sessions individually.

The VO Lab’s recording booths are currently closed due to COVID-19, but the Virtual Voiceover Lab is now offering Online Voiceover Lab Help Desk, so Voiceover Lab Eligible members can get the one-on-one attention you normally would – virtually! 

  • Send in auditions for quick feedback.
  • Have your demo or demo-in-progress evaluated.
  • Get advice and help with setting up and/or trouble shooting your home studio.
  • Request voiceover copy to practice with.
  • Ask all and anything VO related!

Online Voiceover Lab Help Desk is open every weekday (Monday – Friday, except for Foundation holidays) during the hours listed below. Contact us by email at and include the following in the subject window of your email using this format:

In the body of the email, elaborate on the topic and let us know what we can help you with.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation operates two Voiceover Labs: The Don LaFontaine (DLF) Voiceover Lab located in the Foundation Center for Actors – Los Angeles and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Voiceover Lab located in the Foundation Center for Actors – New York.  

Each voiceover lab offers classes and other VO related programs taught by voiceover professionals on topics ranging from ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) to Voicing Characters for Video Games to Finding Your Signature Voice.

Voiceover Lab workshops are free for eligible SAG-AFTRA members and made possible through gifts, grants and sponsorships. The Foundation never draws on SAG-AFTRA dues or initiation fees.
