What is the difference between the Don LaFontaine (DLF) VO Lab and the EIF VO Lab?

The Don LaFontaine (DLF) Voiceover Lab is in Los Angeles and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Voiceover Lab is in New York.

Both VO Labs are part of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Voiceover Lab Program.

VO Lab Eligible members can utilize both VO Labs, regardless of city of residence.







Can I Participate in Voiceover Lab Programs Offered by the Don LaFontaine and the EIF Voiceover Labs?

Yes, you can if you are Voiceover Lab Eligible. VO Lab Eligibility applies to both Voiceover Labs.







Does it matter which VO Lab Orientation I take?

No it does not. Orientations may appear on our website as:

Don LaFontaine (DLF) Voiceover Lab Orientation

 

Voiceover Lab Orientation (with or without time zone included)

When you attend and complete a VO Lab Orientation, you will become VO Lab Eligible. Once you are VO Lab Eligible, you can utilize Voiceover Lab programs and services (unless otherwise indicated) offered by the DLF and the EIF Voiceover Labs.







When I try to sign up for Voiceover Lab Programs the website indicates that I am “Ineligible.” Why is that?/How can I use the Voiceover Labs?

SAG-AFTRA and AEA members must:

VO Lab Application & Orientation Instructions

Log into your SAG-AFTRA Foundation user account (if you do not have one, click the SAG-AFTRA Foundation User Account link above, click Sign In and Create A New Account) and proceed.

Application:

  1. Click Performers Programs.
  2. Click Voiceover Labs.
  3. Read the information and click the link of the studio nearest you:
    Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab (LA)
    Entertainment Industry Foundation Voiceover Lab (NY)
  4. Look for Application and Orientation links within the paragraphs.
  5. Click the Application link and complete it.
  6. Read the User Guidelines and complete the accompanying quiz.

Orientation Registration:

Note: Currently, the VO Lab Orientations occur weekly.  If there is no orientation posted, check the website every few days for updates.

  1. Click the Program Calendar link at the bottom of any page on the SAG-AFTRA Foundation website.
  2. Locate an upcoming VO Lab Orientation (Don LaFontaine VO Lab or Voiceover Lab) and click.
  3. Carefully read the Program Synopsis, Requirements and Event Rules.
  4. Click the RSVP or Waitlist button. If no RSVP or Waitlist buttons are visible, then the RSVP and Waitlist are full.







How can I receive VO Lab email notifications for upcoming classes and programs?

From your computer:

  1. Log into your SAG-AFTRA Foundation User Account at sagaftra.foundation.
  2. You will arrive at your account home page (Welcome, Your Name Here!).
    (Alternatively, click My Account in the upper right corner of any page on the website to return to the Welcome Page.)
  3. Click Voiceover Lab Profile.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Edit Profile.
  5. Scroll to the top of the page and click the box next to Receive Voiceover Lab Email Notifications?
  6. Scroll back down to the bottom of the page and click Update Voiceover Lab Profile.







How can I check my upcoming programs and my attendance status?

From your computer:

  1. Log into your SAG-AFTRA Foundation User Account at sagaftra.foundation.
  2. You will arrive at your account home page (Welcome, Your Name Here!).
    (Alternatively, click My Account in the upper right corner of any page on the website to return to the Welcome Page.)
  3. Click the My Upcoming Programs icon to review your status.  Also, you will be able to cancel your RSVP or Waitlist designation from this section by clicking Cancel and Yes to confirm.

Note: Each time changes to your RSVP or Waitlist status are made, you will receive an automated confirmation email.  Check your email inbox, spam/junk folder or promotions folder for the confirmations.







How do I reserve an “in Lab” booth session?

Note: Due to COVID-19 there are no “in Lab” booth sessions until further notice. However, Online Booth Sessions are currently available for VO Lab Eligible performers. When the VO Labs reopen, the instructions below explain how to reserve booth sessions.

From your computer:

  1. Log into your SAG-AFTRA Foundation User Account at sagaftra.foundation.
  2. You will arrive at your account home page (Welcome, Your Name Here!).
    (Alternatively, click My Account in the upper right corner of any page on the website to return to the Welcome Page.)
  3. Locate the By Appointment Only icon.
  4. Click on Select a Calendar.
  5. Click the VO Lab location and booth you wish to book.
  6. Click the Reserve button for the date and time you want.
  7. Verify the information and click Yes to confirm your session.
  8. You will receive a confirmation email.

To cancel your session, repeat the steps above, but click Cancel (in place of Reserve) and Yes to confirm your cancellation.







How do I reserve an Online Booth Session or Online Voiceover Lab Help Desk?/How many "in Lab" booth sessions can I book?

Due to COVID-19, the Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab and EIF Voiceover Lab are temporarily closed.

However, the Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab is offering Online Booth Sessions for members with VO Lab Eligibility. Click here for more details. Also, the EIF Voiceover Lab is offering Online Voiceover Lab Help Desk for members with VO Lab Eligibility. Click here to learn more.


When the VO Labs reopen, the information below will apply.

You can only book booth sessions up to 14 days from the current day. Also, you can only book a certain number of sessions per day, per calendar week, and per the total 14 day period depending on the facility.

Solo Booth Session Booking Limits:

1 session can be reserved per day.
2 sessions can be reserved per week.
4 sessions can be reserved over the course of 14 days.

Main Booth Session Booking Limits:

2 sessions can be reserved per day.
2 sessions can be reserved per week.
2 sessions can be reserved over the course of 14 days.

 

Previously locked sessions on the calendar are unlocked at the top of each hour from 10:00am-4:00pm and can be reserved 14 days out from the current date.







What is the VO Labs No-Show Policy?

The VO Lab No-Show Policy is referred to as a 3/60/90, which means three (3) no-shows within 60 days will result in 90-days of no access to the VO Lab.  The policy applies to all VO Lab:

  • Classes

  • Workout Groups

  • Panels

  • Booth Sessions

  • Help Desk Sessions

 

If you are unable to attend a VO Lab program that you registered for, cancel your RSVP or Waitlist seat by 11:59 PM the day before the program.

If you are unable to attend a Booth Session or Help Desk Session that you reserved, cancel your session 24 hours before the start time of the reserved session.

 

Cancellations cannot be made after the deadlines and a no-show will be issued, if you do not attend what you previously scheduled.
