The Casting Access Project’s program of free workshops for Guild members with established casting directors gives the actors a better handle on navigating the sometimes mystifying twists and turns of the audition process.
Recent CAP highlights include a very well-received Workshop for Advanced Actors with Matt Kane (Scrubs, The Cleaner). The March 10th event garnered excellent reviews not only for our guest instructor but for the participants as well, with one actor commenting that the company in attendance was, as a group, among the most talented he’d seen in a workshop setting.
While SAG talent is never promised employment by the presence of a casting director, Guild actors have, on occasion, been called into casting offices following positive exposure through CAP. Two actors learning from and working with casting director Orly Sitowitz at her CAP workshop demonstrated the relevance and professionalism needed for a current project of Orly’s, prompting her to invite their auditions shortly thereafter!
