The SAG Foundation’s exciting Conversations series took a full house of nearly 500 Guild actors to the future with a special 3D screening of James Cameron’s groundbreaking film Avatar, followed by a question-and-answer session with director Cameron and actress Zoe Saldana, moderated by Back Stage’s Jenelle Riley.

The evening’s guests explored the film’s groundbreaking technology, which allowed actors to deliver emotional, full-bodied performances while also employing incredible special effects. Following Avatar’s screening, the film’s producer Jon Landau introduced a short film which also took viewers behind the scenes and into the motion capture artistry that contributed to Avatar’s impact.
Avatar’s enormously successful reception from critics and audiences alike helped to fill the January 16 event, which took place at 20th Century Fox’s Zanuck Theatre in Los Angeles, almost immediately.
